The Guitar Shoppe, est. 1972 is owned and operated by partners, Jim Matthews and Kirk Sand. The Shoppe is located one block from the Pacific Ocean in beautiful Laguna Beach, California. It has been our goal for over thirty-five years to serve the needs of guitar players in every capacity - from the beginning student to the professional. Our services include providing a broad selection of instruments, equipment and supplies, professional teachers who teach every style from folk to jazz, a complete workshop employing the area’s finest repairmen for everything from restringing to restorations, and a custom shop where world class handmade instruments are manufactured for professional players all over the world.

We have recently expanded our facility to include teaching studios and a waiting area and space to feature local, national and internationally known guitarists and student recitals.

Customers frequently comment on how "comfortable" and "at home" they feel in our store. Many people refer to the Guitar Shoppe as "Guitar Heaven" and a "Pro-shop for Guitarists". Since we’re all guitar players ourselves, we think so too, and work hard to keep it that way.

We understand how important it is for our customers to have a full selection of instruments so we carry the finest name brands in all price ranges: Acoustic steel string, fine classicals, and electric's, ranging from beginner models all the way up to the finest concert and stage instruments.

Our repair shop is happy to set up every guitar we sell and has built a reputation on quality repair and service. We are an authorized service center for many major manufacturers. In fact, most of the local music stores refer their repair customers to us, too! Our motto is "We Can Fix Anything". We’re not kidding.

Custom instruments are made on the premises by world class luthiers, Kirk Sand (Sand Guitars) and Mark Angus (Angus Guitars).

Sand Guitars enjoys an international reputation with endorsers such as Chet Atkins, Jose’ Feliciano, Earl Klugh, Jerry Reed, Richie Sambora, the late Lenny Breau and many others.

 .... So if you need to have Grandpa’s Martin restored or you need a few more lessons to make you sound just like Eric Clapton - or - maybe you just need a new flatpick - the Guitar Shoppe has it all. We’re open Monday through Saturday and we look forward to serving you.
